Dr. Manrutt Wongkaew

Personal stylist, fashion designer choreographer & performer

As a chief visionary in fashion and performance, Manrutt fuses dance and fashion with a socio-political twist and a dark sense of humour. He juxtaposes proportion with pattern and vivid colour, deconstructing the body in space to dramatic effect. He seek out narratives, visuals, and kinetic material in theatre dance to create style that takes centre stage for fashion medium. His specialist subjects are Fashion Choreography, Multi-media Design and Performance, and Political Economy of the Arts.

As a personal stylist from Savile Row, Manrutt provides bespoke advice and trend research concerning style, fit, and colour combination. He offers on-location wardrobe management and selects suitable colour swatches for his clients. He can compose outfits for any required occasions; from sartorially British to front-row ‘cool’ and casual comfort. This includes delivering tailoring guidance and pinning any required alterations to Savile Row standard. His unique style is regularly featured in the press and social media including British GQ, Evening Standard, The Telegraph, and Jocks & Nerds. Under his guidance, no shape, pattern, nor colour is impossible to wear.

As a practising Buddhist from Bangkok, he values creativity, individuality, and positive thinking. Struggling to strike a balance between ‘fitting-in’ and ‘standing-out,’ he took great comfort and immense inspiration from this quote on Instagram: “When you are born in a world you don’t fit in; it’s because you were born to help create a new one.” He commits to bringing colourful energy, authenticity, and creative freedom to my work. He also commits to building a positive community and making fashion a fun, exciting, and inclusive industry for everyone.
